Chatswood is set to gain three new restaurants, a landscaped park, public art and a restored 1898 house turned daytime cafe as part of the Archer & Albert development now under construction.
Chatswood Dining Precinct Opens Towards The Street
Three restaurants are planned around a landscaped courtyard at ground level, with the spaces opening towards the street and intended for both residents and the wider Chatswood community.
The dining area will sit within a broader collection of landscaped and public spaces planned across the site, which fronts Archer Street, Albert Avenue and Bertram Street.
A landscaped park and public art are also included in the development.
An existing house dating from 1898 on the Albert Avenue corner will be retained and restored as a daytime cafe. The cafe is planned to open directly onto the park, adding another community-facing use at street level.
The development is close to Chatswood Chase, Westfield Chatswood and Chatswood Metro.
Heritage Building Retained Within Development
The retention of the 1898 house forms part of plans for the larger Archer & Albert site, rather than removing all existing structures for the new development.
Its planned use as a cafe will place the older building alongside the new park, landscaped courtyard and restaurant spaces.
The wider development has been designed by Woods Bagot for Coronation Property.
Above the street-level areas, the project will include 150 apartments across 32 storeys, with residences ranging from one to four bedrooms as well as upper-level signature residences and penthouses.
Five basement levels are also planned for parking, including provision for electric vehicle charging.
Approval Covers Wider Chatswood Site
While 57 Archer Street is used as the development address, the approved project covers 57–61 Archer Street and 34 Albert Avenue.
The development was approved as State Significant Development (SSD-72891212), covering a mixed-use project with in-fill affordable housing in the Willoughby City local government area.
Approval was granted on 20 November 2025. The planning record includes approved architectural and landscape plans, as well as material dealing with heritage, transport, access, flooding, landscaping, community engagement and social impacts.
Construction has begun, with completion expected in the second half of 2028.
