Sydney’s North West Metro, which links Rouse Hill to Chatswood, is scheduled to open for commuters this May 2019.
The first stage of the Sydney Metro, Australia’s biggest public transport project, is on its final stage, and it is bound to open soon for public use. With the scheduled opening of the new 36-kilometre rail line from Rouse Hill to Chatswood, known as the North West Metro, commuters can soon have the option to switch modes of public transport, specifically from buses to trains, to get to their destination.
Although the NSW Government have not yet given the exact opening date of the Sydney North West Metro, a number of locals are still very keen about this project, and they are looking forward to giving it a try anytime soon.

Sydney Metro Overview
Sydney Metro is set to revolutionise Australia’s biggest city travels by having 31 metro stations and more than 66 kilometres of new metro rail. Not only that, but it will also have sets of world-class, fast, safe, and reliable trains that would easily connect all its passengers to their desired destination.
Similar to the other metro systems worldwide, Sydney’s new metro railway can accommodate about 40,000 customers per hour. Also, customers won’t be needing timetables. Customers of the Sydney Metro can simply just turn up and go with a train every four minutes in the peak.

The Sydney Metro project will be done in two stages. The first stage is the Sydney North West Metro, which will commence its services starting the second quarter of 2019. The second stage is Sydney Metro City & South West Metro, which will open in 2024.
About Sydney North West Metro
The Sydney North West Metro is set to deliver eight new railway stations and 4,000 commuter car parking spaces to the growing North West side of Sydney.
Since this region is known for having the highest car ownership levels per household in NSW, this will be a momentous event for them to have a reliable public transport service for the first time. Also, with more and more people moving into Sydney’s North West, having an easy and fast railway is indeed beneficial.
An initial budget of $8.3 billion was allotted for the construction of this project. However, upon finalizing the construction, the final cost placed was only $7.4 billion. The bulk of the savings came from the tunnelling between Kellyville and Epping finishing 10 months ahead of the original schedule.
