Mamma Mia magic is heading back to Chatswood, and it feels right at home. PACA Productions will stage Mamma Mia! at The Concourse Theatre from 9 to 25 October 2026. For locals, that means ABBA, a big-hearted story and a night out without the city scramble.
Chatswood knows a crowd-pleaser when it sees one. This is exactly that. It is bright, familiar and built for an audience that wants to leave smiling.
Greek island drama with a very local audience
The story is the one everyone knows, and that is part of the charm. Sophie Sheridan is about to marry. Before the big day, she wants one last answer. So she invites three men from her mother Donna’s past back to the island.
From there, the plot does what Mamma Mia! does best. It brings family tension, old memories and a fair bit of chaos. Yet it never loses its warmth. That is why the show still works. It is easy to follow, easy to love and easy to sing along to.
And of course, the songs do the heavy lifting. Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia and The Winner Takes It All are all on the bill. Those ABBA classics are the engine room of the show. They keep the pace up and the mood light.
PACA Productions says the cast includes 30 performers, backed by a live musical ensemble. That should give the production a proper lift. It also suggests a show with enough energy to fill The Concourse without trying too hard.
The running time is about two and a half hours, including a 20-minute interval. All ages are welcome, although children under 16 must attend with an adult. So, yes, this one has broad appeal. It suits families, friends and anyone who still knows every word to ABBA’s greatest hits.
